Scholarships

Margaret McClure Scholarship Program for NYONEL Members  

Each year, NYONEL awards scholarships according to the criteria below. Awards for 2018 will be announced in January 2018 and awarded at the annual conference in March 2018. NYONEL members may apply by submitting an application to the address below. Application is available on the “Members Area” page of NYONEL website.

The Foundation of New York State Nurses administers the scholarship awards.

Scholarship application criteria:

  • Full membership in NYONEL for minimum of two (2) years;
  • Enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Masters or Doctoral degree or Post-Masters certification with a concentration in Nursing Leadership or Nursing Education.

Additional information:

  • $10,000 is allocated to fund this year’s scholarship awards. Number of awards to be determined;
  • Scholarships will be awarded at the annual conference in March 2018 for use during the 2018 calendar year;
  • Priority will be given to first time applicants;
  • Regional rotation of awards will be considered.

St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association Nurse Educator Scholarship Program  

A $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified registered nurse advancing his/her education to complete academic credentials for a nurse educator position.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • New York State residency
  • Acceptance into a nursing education program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Full-time study as defined by the admitting education program
  • If enrolled in graduate education program, minimum current GPA 5; if undergraduate, minimum GPA 3.0
  • Agreement to teach a minimum of one year in an accredited nursing education program in New York State after completion of degree
  • Approved awardees may apply for one subsequent Applicants who are denied are eligible to reapply

Dr. Barbara Zittel Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Scholarship Program 

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified registered nurse advancing his/her education to complete a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • New York State residency
  • Acceptance into a baccalaureate degree in nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
  • Full-time or part-time study
  • If already enrolled in a RN to BS degree program, minimum current GPA 3.0
  • Applicants who are denied are eligible to reapply for a subsequent year

The Noah Tubbs Family Trust Nursing Research Grant

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified registered nurse pursuing nursing research.  Special consideration will be given to nurses pursuing research in the field of geriatrics.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • New York State residency or practice professional nursing in New York State
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing from a nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in New York State
  • Applicants who are denied are eligible to reapply for a subsequent year
