Hudson Valley Collaborative to Advance Research and Evidence -based Practice (HVN-CARE)

The mission of the Hudson Valley Nursing Collaborative to Advance Research and Evidence-based Care (HVN-CARE) is to foster collaboration between academia and service to improve patient outcomes and advance nursing practice through evidence-based practice and nursing research (generated at the first meeting, March 19, 2008).

 

1. Collaborate between service and education to implement EBP/research into clinical practice/develop partnerships

       A. Get professional manuscripts accepted by peer reviewed journals by working with nursing faculty on clinical issues

B.  Consider development of regional nursing research Fellowship in which Education develops curriculum

2. Create a culture that supports EBP to foster a learning environment that improves patient outcomes

       A. Develop protocol for organizations to implement EBP in a consistent, coherent manner

B. Develop research protocols to test impact of practice on patient outcomes

3. Develop public awareness of nurses as researchers and scholars

A. Get publications in popular literature and in popular NURSING literature

B. Provide education to enable an understanding of the IRB among members and promote NURSING representation on organizational IRB’s

OUR ACTIVITIES

Co-sponsored an Inter-professional Research Day with Mercy College, the theme was “Safe Patient Handling”.

Sponsored a multi-site study involving seventeen hospitals to collect date on “Perioperative Registered Nurses’ knowledge, Attitudes, Behaviors and Barriers towards Pressure ulcer prevention in Surgical Patients”. The results to be published.
