The Frances G. Crane and Rita C. Kopf Nursing Research Grants |
Frances Cranes death at age 61 in 1990 and Rita Kopfs at age 52 in 1992 were sudden and untimely. The research funds in their names were established by their families, friends and colleagues to honor, memorialize and extend their unique and distinguished contributions to the nursing profession and the public.
The Frances G. Crane Memorial Research Award |
| Frances G. Crane was founder and
President of Tri-Cities and Helpmates, Inc. and the Tri-Cities Nurses Registry in
Latham and Schenectady, New York. She pioneered new patterns
of independent practice and, with her husband and business partner Edward Crane,
interpreted and staunchly defended professional nurses rights and responsibilities
as independent contractors. |
| The Frances G. Crane Grant will go to a new nursing investigator for research dealing with independent practice, nursing autonomy or innovative practice efforts. |
Unfortunately, we will be unable to award a
Frances G. Crane Grant in 2007. Please see below for information on
the Rita C. Kopf Award.
|
Rita C. Kopf Memorial Research Award |

Nursing, Saratoga Hospital; Clinical Nursing Specialist and Director of Quality Assurance,
Albany Medical Center; and in faculty positions at Russell Sage College and Adelphi

| The Rita C. Kopf Grant will support research on ethical issues in nursing by a new, seasoned or nontraditional nursing investigator. Proposals dealing with women, children, or disenfranchised groups are encouraged. |
