Steering Committee to Augment Data re NYS Nursing Faculty

At its May 28, 2009 meeting the Institute for Nursing Steering Committee determined the need to augment current data collection, analyses and syntheses regarding nursing faculty in New York State.  This is an essential element of the Empire State Nursing Education Capacity Consortium's efforts to enhance the supply of nursing faculty in New York State.  Over recent years thousands of qualified applicants have been turned away from New York State nursing education programs because of faculty shortages, thus contributing to the current and projected severe nursing shortages.

 

The Steering Committee is collaborating with the NYS State Education Department, the National League for Nursing and others regarding the most efficient and effective means of collecting additional data without adding to the current reporting burdens of Deans and Directors of NYS Nursing Education Programs.  The Committee will announce specific plans for enhanced data collection in this important are in the near future.
